The Riverina’s viticultural history dates back to the early 1900s and was introduced by European Settlers. It’s now home to more than 15 wineries and responsible for 15% of Australia’s total grape production.
The region is also recognised as the national leader for its proactive approach to environmental management and on the Australian Government’s Environmental Stewardship Programme to ensure sustainable production.
Most of the wineries in the Riverina are family-owned and operated, producing wine on a relatively large scale.
Due to its large Italian population, the Riverina has a strong food and wine culture.
